Thoughts on the results.

22 Apr

I missed the first 12 minutes of American Idol tonight, so I don’t have any comments on the contestants’ group performance. Although, I can imagine my thoughts would go something like: “This was awkward to watch. Why do they try and choreograph pathetic dance moves?”

I did catch the Ford commercial, though. Unfortunately. My thoughts? “This was awkward to watch. Why do they try and produce pathetic car commercials?”

Other thoughts…

On the disco veterans trying to make a comeback loooong past their prime: What the F kind of cracked out performance was that? Why are your pushed up boobs taking over your face? KC why are you still performing?

Peace out, Lil. Now ditch the weave and get back to your roots!

On Lil: It was time. When Ryan said, “I can tell you want this really bad. I can see it in your eyes,” I was actually thinking, “She really wants to go home. She’s done with this.” But I will say her final performance was fantastic. She should have done that last night.

David Archuleta: Seriously? Did you get younger in the last year? And forget how to sing? That was horrible. It’s times like these I really wish the judges could give their comments on the guest performers. Simon would have ripped that UP. David’s adorable, but just wasn’t on point tonight.

Ah, Anoop. You were the underdog, but you just didn’t have the star power to stay. So long. I don’t think anyone was surprised by tonight.

Top 7 (again): Was he worth the save?

21 Apr

What do you think? I’m actually kind of indifferent. It depends on the next six weeks. If Adam, Kris or Allison goes home before the final three, then yes, I think the judges blew the save. We shall see.

Now, onto American Idol’s disco night… Man I hate disco night. Almost as much as I hate country night. It’s just outdated and forced. But the thing is… the worst theme nights always bring the best out of someone. There’s always a surprise, always something unexpected.

My favorites tonight? Kris and Adam. My prediction for the bottom three? Lil, Danny and Anoop. And I’m thinking Lil and Anoop are peacing out. It’s time.

Lil, “I’m Every Woman.” Snore. She’s got pipes, but she’s just not getting it. This isn’t season two… you can’t get by just on your vocals anymore. You’ve got to BRING IT. I hate to sound like the judges, but I have no idea who Lil is as an artist.

Kris, “She Works Hard for the Money.” Once again, amazing. He’ll never be a powerhouse rocker like Adam, but he does acoustic oh so well. And that can be just as hard. I have a friend who plays guitar and he often takes girly pop songs and makes them into his own. It’s not easy to do, but when it’s done well, it’s awesome.

Danny, “September.” One word: karaoke. Like Lil, that’s not gonna cut it anymore.

Allison, “Hot Stuff.” For some reason, she just doesn’t do it for me. I think she sang well, and yes, she the girls’ only shot at a winner. But I’m just not nuts for her; she hasn’t wowed me. I realize I’m in the minority about that, though… and I would be fine with her winning. I think she’s got what it takes. I’m just not a huge fan.

I was expecting something along these lines from Adam Lambert. And yes, in case you havent seen this yet, this is Adam Lambert.

Adam, “If I Can’t Have You.” Damn it. I keep wanting to not like him, because it’s so obvious he’s going to win, or at least be in the finals. But that was incredible. It reminded me of when David Cook sang “Music of the Night” on musical night last year; he showed us something completely unexpected. When nearly everyone else rocked it out, he toned it waaay down and connected with the audience. Although, Paula feeling all his pain was a little much. Was she for real crying?

Matt, “Stayin’ Alive.” I’m feeling the Justin Timberlake vibe, totally. I’ll be honest, I rolled my eyes when Ryan revealed what he was singing. That song just reminds me of CPR class (that’s how they teach it now, if you haven’t been in a while). But Matt managed to update this cliché, overdone song and – despite what Simon said – I think he made it fresh. I liked it. It wasn’t groundbreaking, but I enjoyed it.

Anoop, “Dim All the Lights.” What is it about Anoop that is just so freaking awkward to watch?? Yes, he has a good voice. But there’s no “wow” factor. I mean compared to everyone else, I just think he falls short. I’m sorry. Once again, Simon was right. I don’t know about it being his worst, but it wasn’t great.

PS is anyone else seriously pumped for Glee?? Maybe it’s the a cappella version of “Don’t Stop Believing” in the commercial – I want it on my iPod NOW – but I can’t wait for May 19.

Who else is excited for Glee??

Who else is excited for Glee?? Although this promo pic looks like a high schooler made it in photoshop. Laaame...
